Weekly Numbers from August 1 - 7 (Monday thru Sunday)

Closing in on IMWI.  Five weeks from last Sunday and its getting close to tapering for it.  This is the last official high volume week of a regular training period, not counting 'taper' period.  Typically training plans are built by each period having 2 or 3 hard weeks with a R&R week at the end of the period leading up to your main race or your "A" race.  After that first "A" race, the plan can restart based on your next "A" race, but you don't have to go all the way back to Prep.  If you're fitness is good and you don't need extra rest you can go back to Base 3 or even a Build period. Here's an example:

  • Prep (a few weeks, give or take)
  • Base 1 (4 weeks)
  • Base 2 (4 weeks)
  • Base 3 (4 weeks)
  • Build 1 (4 weeks)
  • Build 2 (4 weeks)
  • Taper (2 weeks)
  • Race Week (one week)
Not exactly along the lines of the above layout, but for conversation sake, I am in week 3 of Build 2.  After this week I'll have an R&R week then the Taper starts.

Ok, numbers for last week--which I think puts me at more hours in one week since I was training for MTB racing in 2002 when I was going up to 15 or so in Base 3:
