2011 ITU Long Course Triathlon World Championships

The ITU Long Course Triathlon World Championships were held on November 5, 2011, in Henderson, NV (just outside Las Vegas)--the distance for the LC WC is made up of a 2.4 mile swim, 75 mile bike, and an 18 mile run.  However, due to dropping overnight temperatures and water temperatures below what's acceptable for the ITU, they cut the swim out of it.  So, it was a TT style start on the bike, followed by the run.

Four triathletes from Rochester, MN, who qualified for TEAM USA went out there to take on the course and two of them took home world titles!

Alex Hooke took 1st in the male AG 25-29 and was the 9th overall amateur crossing the line at 5:37:59. Ruth Brennan Morrey was the overall female amateur winner (female world champion) also making her the AG 35-39 winner as well.  Her time was 6:00:49 and would have put her at 9th of the 27 PRO women on the start list.  Joe Moyer crossed the line at 6:02:32 and Diana Koepp came in at 7:13:17.
