Ok, you know how when you buy a new (or new to you) car and suddenly you notice that there are a lot of them on the road--more than you realized? Well, we bought a Ford Freestar minivan (yes, we bought a van. Shut up, its sweet and makes for a great race traveling vehicle) and suddenly there are a ton of them out there. It's not that all-of-a-sudden everybody else bought one, its that you are paying attention to other vehicles a little more now.
How does this relate to thumb sucking...? Let me tell you. Our new baby, pictured here at 3 weeks (she's 13 weeks now) just started sucking her thumb. We don't encourage this, but she wakes up, finds it, sticks it in her mouth and pacifies herself. She is sleeping thru the night now (two days in a row!) and partly because she has that darn thumb. We try to give her a pacifier, but she ain't havin' none a that... Ok, now that we notice she has started thumb sucking, I see it all the time now. Little kids all over the place, even as old as 5, suck their their thumbs. So today I am walking down the street a couple blocks to work and see this guy riding his bike on the sidewalk-- one handed because he was sucking his thumb on the other hand! A grown man. He didn't look special needs or anything either. If he was, he would have probably had a helmet. Oh, wait, he did have a helmet, but it was hanging from the handlebars!
I don't get it.
Don't you have work to do?
